Still hate it here...

...yes. I guess hate is strong, it can only be used for New York. Lets say don't like it here. It will never be home. I guess its all downhill from here. Now this and then India. I am done with all the fun I was suppose to have in a lifetime in Seattle. Now that I have moved, I can totally see there is something about US that everyone wants to live there, and that something is something real. Life is just good and comfortable there. People are nice, make an effort to be nice. People in Europe are just mean (maybe racist or maybe just plain mean). When someone is real nice, I am surprised and then often discover that they are actually American! Especially true at work. If I could, I would move back to Seattle in a heartbeat.

Travelling is great though, but that charm is wearing off now.
Italy was great though, can't complain, especially Sicily!
Off to Berlin and Prague next.

hey kiddo... I wish I wish I could make it easier for you. You have a heart of gold and don't deserve mean people.

Big hug, faye

You can't generalize and say people in Europe are mean. May be you had bad experiences. After sometime in Switzerland, you will find that there is a invisible barrier when you socialize with Swiss. Only you can break this barrier, Once you break that Things are a bit very easy. I mean some people are a bit xenophobic but some are real nice. I think, if you can work a bit, you will find that you can easily make friends :)

Cheers

I have to say, I should not generalize. I should be the last person to generalize since I don't believe in generalization :). I believe that everyone is different, still there are some common traits that we call "culture". Anyway, that post was mostly me venting my frustration over rude customer-service person on phone, rude customs officer I had to deal with, someone telling me that not understanding how something work was my fault! etc. etc.

i think, there is no such common trait and the things we believe culture to be is what we define it as. Yes your right if you speak quantitatively, majority of people have some common traits which are influenced by various things like language, location, etc. all those traits can be called as culture :)
